Children with visual impairments are unable to comprehend various aspects of the physical world, such as shapes, sizes and the relative spatial orientation of objects. in the stages of pre-literacy, their exposure to tactile images becomes the equivalent of a picture book. embossed books are expensive, and limited to those published specially for this purpose. with this motivation, a low cost fluid based tactograph printer is developed which can provide printout with tactile sensation on any type of paper and book. to make this printer user friendly, a graphical user interface(gui) is developed to control tactograph with image recognition algorithm. this special algorithm helps the instructor to print the tactile image in just three mouse clicks. the ability to create digital tactile information give possibility to share the source file, with which any one with tactograph can reproduce the tactile printout.
