“cooking” is the application of heating to food ingredients. in this project, high frequency induction heater using electro magnet induction principle, meets the needs of cooking in large quantity. an induction cooking element (on gas stove would be called a burner) is a special kind of transformer. when a good-sized piece of magnetically conducting material e.g. cast iron frying pan is placed in the magnetic field, which is created by the working element. by controlling the intensity of the magnetic field, the amount of heat generated in the cooking vessel is controlled. the proposed system works at 27 khz frequency which is less than 49 khz maintaining to work in safe operating range. igbt and mosfet are the key component in this project, because it acts as power electronic switches. solar induction heater is a high frequency heater which is different from other methodology of cooking. here solar energy is used to provide power to heater. it provides high efficiency and it consumes minimum power. induction heating is the process of heating an electrically conducting object by electromagnetic induction. cooking with high frequency, this solar induction cooker can cook food during the day time as well as at night. during the day time, from direct solar energy cooking is done whereas at night the stored power from battery is used to cook. in the failure of primary stored power, ac source is used to charge the battery. principle of working: initially battery is charged with the help of the solar panel. then the frequency is increased with the help of the inverter. this high frequency is used to heat the heating element. heating element is made up of coil. due to the eddy current produced, the coil gets heated. single phase supply is used as a backup. in case of failure of stored power, the ac source is used to charge the battery for power supply to heating element. whereas secondary source is acting as a standby to maintain the reliability. control unit is controlling the whole system which provides the pulse to generate the high frequency. inverter helps to produce ac supply with high frequency of 27 khz. temperature detector is present at the mid portion of cooking top which will detect the temperature and does not allow to increase the temperature from a certain set value. cooling fans are used to ventilate internal circuit of the system. comparison between conventional and proposed method: liquid petroleum gas (lpg) is used to burn the burner of stove. resistance heating cook tops have the coil which produces heat due to resistance. induction cook tops uses electricity but it uses the magnetic property of steel to directly heat the cooking vessel. induction heating provides 84% efficiency than that of conventional heating like resistance heating and gas. efficiency of resistance and gas heating are 74% and 40% respectively.
