Mining industry is one of the high risk industries where human life is always in danger, when safety precautions and monitoring of various parameters are not looked after properly. even though various guidelines and safety measures are exists but there is always a chance of ignorance or avoidance of these rules and that may cause severe accidents in turn cause the loss of human life. we propose a smart helmet which can monitor some of the vital parameters and gives the audio warning to the surroundings, send the messages and information’s to the control station or remote location. violation of the same if any can be wirelessly monitored and necessary corrective measures can be initiated well in advance to avoid the major accidents. in order to avoid the above mentioned tragic situations our proposed helmet will sense the excessive release of poisonous gases into the surroundings, falling of objects on the head or collision with any obstacles and presence of safety helmet on head of the human being entering the area and gives the audio warning to the surroundings, send the messages and information’s to the control station or remote location. our system will continuously monitor concentration level of the poisonous gases such as co, so2, no2, and particulate matter in the surroundings of the worker, any person entering the area without helmet and also if the miners are struck by an object against the head with a force exceeding a value of 1000 on the hic (head injury criteria). these aforementioned benchmarks are the principle behind the proposed work. if any one of the situation arises then a warning siren is being generated to alert the co-workers about the scenario. also at same time information about the same is passed to the control station as an sms or a call.
