Redevelopment Of Mavelikara Municipality
Project Description :

Redevelopment of an area means the entire rebuilding or renewal by implementing new facilities. the ultimate goal of all development programs is to raise the standard of living by reducing the inconvenience of people. mavelikara is a fast growing town. besides this growth, there arise the needs of new facilities but the prevailing ones are not sufficient to meet the growing needs. the major issues in the locality are traffic congestion, lack of proper water treatment facility, improper waste disposal and the presence of a slum in the heart of the city. this project enumerates the design of a signal system at mitchel junction (mavelikara) to reduce the traffic congestion in the centre of the town and suggestion of alternate routes for vehicles entering the town so as to reduce the traffic flow towards the town centre. additional units have been designed for the present water treatment plant for rectifying the flaws in the prevailing water supply and treatment system. also new schemes for proper disposal of wastes generated in the town have been suggested for preparing mavelikara to become a part of the ‘clean kerala’ mission. the elimination of the slum from the heart of the city and also the provisions for rehabilitation of the slum dwellers have been discussed in this project. the present land use pattern has been studied and a map showing this was drawn for the purpose of drawing a development plan of the town for the year 2040.
