This paper presents a review for three phase induction motor from incipient faults like over/under voltage, over load, phase reversing, unbalance voltage, single phasing and earth fault. due to these electrical faults, the windings of the motor get over heated which lead to insulation failure and thus reduce the life time of the motor. induction motors are the main components of many industrial and commercial systems, so their correct and reliable performance is inevitable and also today, error detection has considerable importance. error detection has valuable advantages during performance and in early stages of motor performance and preventing from being damaged of motor. majorly faults are single phasing and over voltage this faults are overcome by using commercial protection circuit in which there are three single phase transformers, by observing this circuit we optimize this circuit by using two single phase transformer instead of three, our main objective is to reduce cost and materials. now a days protection of induction motor is very important for automation industries. commercial protection circuit for three phase induction motors is required three single phase transformer but we reduces this circuit by using two single phase transformer instead of three single phase transformer. the project is designed to protect an induction motor from single phasing, under-voltage and overheating. in industry application mostly use of three phase induction motor .many type of fault are occurs in three phase induction motor.the basic idea for the development of this project is to provide safety to the industrial motor,agriculture motor. if any of the phases, out of the 3 phases is missing, supply voltage obtained below the rated voltage and if the current of the motor during operation exceeds the threshold value, motor stops immediately. components of single phasing protection are as follows: relay, protection of diode relay, 555-timer ic, diode, semiconductor diode, transistor, capacitor, resistor, fixed &variable resistor, transformer, voltage transformer, three phase power supply. in future we are planning to provide the protection of three phase induction motors by using microcontroller and embedded system.
