Eyesmart is a revolutionary national and international award winning ophthalmic electronic medical record (emr) and hospital management system developed in house by l v prasad eye institute, india. we have embarked on networking the entire eye health pyramid of lvpei on digitized medical records. the lvpei eye health pyramid encompasses service delivery at 4 different levels ranging from tertiary care to primary care in the villages. in the village vision complex (vcc), 10 vision centers connect to a secondary center which then refers patient requiring further evaluation and management to the tertiary centers linked to them. this ensures a permanent infrastructure to deliver high quality eyecare services to the needy at all levels. since its inception it has registered over 85,310 new patients and helped see 1,15,256 consultations paperless. it is successfully implemented in all 4 levels of the eye health pyramid ranging from the tertiary center, secondary center and also the village vision center. all functions both clinical and administrative are interlinked in a single emr and hms system and through a single patient record. different flash tools, document viewers to intelligently assist our doctors to manage patient data at the convenience of a click anywhere, anytime. access to case sheets on the mobile phones, appointment details have enabled doctors to access their records 24/7/365. the application is enabled on various platforms like ipads, iphones, tablets. it has helped cut costs, increased productivity and has helped build a stronger bond of trust between the healthcare provider and the patient.
