Saline bottles and iv drips are a staple in any medical condition that requires you to get admitted. once the electrolyte bottle has been attached to the patient, it must be checked at regular intervals to avoid backflow of blood or bubbles entering into the bloodstream - which if left unattended could lead to death. the present market offers devices to monitor saline bottles, however, they are expensive and exclusively available in private hospitals. we have designed an iot based drip monitoring system which enables the nurse to monitor the level of saline while simultaneously emphasizing on low cost and a high degree of reliability. we have used just 3 components; arduino uno, ir sensor module and sim900gsm to develop this monitoring system. apart from cost, it will be advantageous at night since there won't be a requirement for the nurses or caretakers to visit the patient’s bed regularly to check the level of fluid in the bottle. it'll be of great usage in the case of a low nurse to patient ratio. and finally, it reduces human error and saves lives.
