Still now, there is no report of chrysanthemum (chrysanthemum morifolium ramat.) on skin cancer treatment. human dermal fibroblast cell line from human adult skin, will be used for cancer studies. in the present study, the biochemical tests of secondary metabolites such as alkaloids, flavonoids, phenol, terpenoids, saponins, steroids, tannin, carbohydrates, quinone, oil & resin test was carried out. from the above tests it shows that alkaloids, phenol, saponin steroids, carbohydrates tests shows positive result whereas flavonoids, terpenoids, tannin, quinone, oil & resin test shows negative result. furthermore the antioxidant activity of chrysanthemum was carried out. the invitro studies of chrysanthemum showed strong antioxidant in a dose dependent in hydroxyl (oh•), superoxide anion (o2•−), 2,2-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulphonic acid radical cation (abts•+) and 1,1-diphenyl- 2-picrylhydrazyl (dpph•) radical scavenging assays. we also observed the reducing power of chrysanthemum .the result obtained here shows that it has strong reducing activity and it also dependent on dose or concentration of the flower powder. further the work is on progress on isolation of active compounds, study of anticancer effects and its drug formulation.
