A novel polymeric product has been developed for efficient removal of oil spills in seawater. at initial stage, a lab scale unit was developed to analyze the polymeric product; several parameters were fine-tuned to improve the efficiency of oil recovery from water. after the successful trials, a large-scale unit was developed for this purpose and recovery efficiency is tested using crude oil with [viscosity: 4-5 cps], crude oil was deliberately added in a glass tank consisting of 230 liters of water. the results were very positive and the unit can recover around 80-90% of the crude oil from water. an in-line sensor was assembled to study the quantity of oil recovered by the unit at different duration. further, we have proposed to test this unit in real-time conditions in sea environment especially in the areas of oil spill.
