Burns are one of the most devastating conditions encountered in medicine. burn wound infection (bwi) is a major public health problem and the most devastating forms of trauma worldwide. so required proper care & management in burn wound healing process. chitosan is the second most abundant natural polysaccharide after cellulose on earth. its specific biological features like biodegradability, biocompatibility and antibacterial activity. silver nanoparticles have anti-bactericidal activity against gram positive and gram negative bacteria & also have wound healing activity. combine of chitosan, silver nanoparticle and anti-microbial drug (neomycin sulphate) produce significant effect on the wound healing activity and anti-microbial activity. silver nanoparticles were synthesized by chemical method & characterized by uv spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, zeta potential. the film formation was carried out on the surgical dressing material. the film was evaluated for the water absorption capacity, anti-microbial study, xrd, ft-ir & in vivo study for wound healing activity. comparison with the standard marketed silver sulfadiazine ointment was carried out. chitosan blank film has higher water absorption capacity compare to silver nanoparticle loaded chitosan film & neomycin sulphate drug loaded silver nanoparticle contain chitosan film. the significant different were found in antimicrobial activity of formulation compare to silver nanoparticle, neomycin sulphate, chitosan solution alone. the xrd and ft-ir data indicate no any type of interaction between drug and excipient in final formulation. the wound healing property of film was significantly higher compare to chitosan film, silver nanoparticle contain chitosan film, silver sulphadiazine ointment.
