Design Of Self-writing Smart Pen Using Ocr Technology And Miniaturized Projection
Project Description :

This project aims to unify the ideas of many important innovations into one. the smart pen is a coalescence of new prominent technologies such as ocr, speech recognition etc. the most intriguing feature is its ability to automatically write by perceiving the voice using speech recognition. the saved piece of note can be accessed anytime via the inbuilt mini projector mounted on the cap of pen. it makes learning fun and interactive for everyone. just like today's smart watches , smartphones etc. we are aiming for a smart-pen that has all the features like camera , memory for storage , micropone , a vibrant touchscreen display, internet connectivity (onenote access), projector etc. which tries to make an all-round package fulfilling each and every parameter . with an active internet connection (via wifi support) it can regularly update the important notes. a tentative oled touch display for easy navigation is also chosen. a mini cnc plotter machine is used specifically to achieve the aim of self-writing. the pen also has the ability to transfigure the detected text in the image to virtual or usable text via optical character recognition and then the acquired text can be utilized either by saving the notes online on cloud services or instructing the pen to write the text on its own. therefore, the smart pen possesses the ability of taking both voice as well as image input. the commercially available smart pens lacks on fulfilling one or more parameters. the three modes of pen make it suitable for numerous uses. the first mode of pen is automatic mode. in this mode the pen writes whatever it hears i.e. voice to text conversion alongside a mic to save the recorded session to be heard for later use. different font styles can also be applied. voice searches can be done to understand the unknown words using dictionary mode. self-writing pen is based on a mini cnc plotter. a speech to text convertor software(speech recognition)(bitvoicer or transcribeme) is used. the text is then sent to 3dwriter software using socket programming which creates g-code file , then another software “pronterface” loads the file and sends to 3dwriter which uses the pen to scribble the data on the paper. the pen has an internal storage which stores a digital copy of the written notes and documents. any of the previously written notes can be accessed anytime with the help of a mini projector based on “mini ray” i.e world’s smallest projector mounted on the cap of the pen. this pen has an oled display of less than half an inch. pen will run on “pixo” operating system(used in first generation ipod) and can act as an interactive touch display for projected view. the second mode is manual mode. if the pen runs out of charge we can use it like a normal one. the third mode is ccc (capture camera converter). in this mode the camera of the pen can be used to capture image and then convert the image to the text form. . a separate “dictionary” feature can be accessed with the voice commands that can search unknown words. an app as well as software can be installed to keep the notes in sync with the devices ,from where we can share the files to social media or mail it to someone. we can create a database inside the memory of pen having small notes containing definition of terms or a math formula etc. written by us and access it with the help of inbuilt projector at any urgent time.(taking the help of voice search).
