Cocobot - A Robotic Coconut Tree Climber And Cutter
Project Description :

The proposed robot to climb a coconut tree and harvest coconuts is robotic machine comprising a machine unit having a robotic arm and a robotic body, a ground station unit having a control module for controlling the machine unit. the robotic body is capable of climbing up and down the tree. the robotic arm has three/four degrees of freedom and has servomotors, a wireless camera, a transmitter, and a cutter. the robotic body is a circular body with multiple wheels and a channel for the circular motion of the arm so that the arm can rotate and cut coconut bunches in any side of the tree, without the need for the body to rotate. all these are in modular form which can be attached and detached easily. the wireless camera captures video in the vicinity of the cutter and transmits the video to ground station, to provide a better view of orientation to cut the coconuts for the user. the ground station has the display unit for the user to watch the video. the control unit comprises of a microcontroller, motor drivers, actuators, joint detecting sensors, power unit and wireless interface, and the processing unit controls actuators in the robotic arm and the body. the cutter has to be a powerful unit, with the capability to cut the coconut bunch stem attached to the coconut tree and the coconut leaves stem attached to the tree. the ground station comprises a power management module, mobile phone, and a wireless module. the power management module manages power for said robotic machine with power adapters and regulators to provide the required amount of voltage (both ac and dc) for various hardware parts. the display unit comprises a receiver to get the details of video and an operator camera output to view the video. this wireless module comprises a mobile phone for transmitting operational command from the operator viewing display unit in said ground station to the machine unit to cut the coconuts. this mobile phone also controls the robotic arm and the cutter.
