Milk Adulteration Detection Kit
Project Description :

Paper microfluidic chip: - we have engineered a paper strip through which tests for 5 adulterants can be done simultaneously. ayan has been designed keeping the end user in mind. the unique selling proposition is the number of tests it can perform at a very aggressive production cost of rs 1.60/-the user needs to dip one end of the test strip in the milk and through the natural capillary action the milk reacts with the reagents in their respective reaction zones. the result can be seen through the colour change that occurs. this is a capillary type microfluidic device. the right usage of filter paper (or designing paper with desired pore size), hydrophobic/hydrophilic channels and printing mechanism make it a potent weapon in the hands of the masses for a war against adulteration. there are multiple ways to make individual paper strips for each reagents which would make the whole process more redundant and time consuming. our innovation comes in getting all the chemicals in a single paper strip with a cost effective solution. we simply print the chemicals on the paper using a normal inkjet printer. paper as a medium and chemicals at small quantity bring down the costs. we plan to sell this to companies as a marketing tool for them. in simple terms they can use it as a medium to induce trust and hence brand loyalty against their competitors. there are over 500 registered milk companies in india and there is enough competition for someone to adopt this as a differentiator. polymer microfluidic chip: - ayan pro is an industrial grade device which will sport a microfluidic chip, image processing unit and a spectrophotometer. the microfluidic chip is at the core of our company and we are banking on its development for our future devices. ayan pro truly lives up to our vision of “biotech in the hands of the people”. we have made a scaled up prototype for testing. though lot of improvements need to be done, we are assured of its usability as a complete “lab on a chip” test kit. we plan to replace the test labs of various industries with our device. it can also be a handy tool for government organization as mentioned by a fssai chennai official.
