Automation Of Diesel Generator Set By Using Auto Mains Failure Panel

The diesel generator set used in the generator room of siemens for supplying light loads having capacity of 180kva generator is made by "kirloskar". this generator is used to supply light loads like ups , street light , server room etc. generally all the major industries/companies/institutions have dg for power back up, but when mains power goes off, manpower is required to start the dg which in turn takes time. also, production losses take place due to time required to start the dg set manually. to eliminate these problems, amf panels are installed to auto-start the dg when mains power fails. during the dg running time, in case of any fault sensed by the amf panel will immediately trip the engine. thereby, engine is protected from faults. the amf panel comes with communication facility. in this case the data can be transferred through internet for remote monitoring and analysis. while the mains supply is normal and the d.g. set is at rest, the load is applied directly from mains through mains contactor. when the mains supply fails or drops below a certain preset value, the automatic system gives starting signal to d.g. set and d.g. set starts. as soon the d.g. set reaches its operational voltage and speed, the d.g. contactor closes and the connected load is supplied from the d.g. set. when the mains supply is restored approximately for at least one minute, the load gets transferred to mains contactor and d.g. set will come to rest. the panel is also designed for manual operation of d.g. set through manual change over switch as required. amf controller bernini be 42 is a high performance 3-phase a.m.f/a.t.s. controller/generator controller & monitoring system which displays all parameters involved in the automation of a generator .
