Automated Railway Control System
Project Description :

Railways are most popular and economic mode of transport and they are the life line of economic condition of the country. the railway network of india crosses rural as well as urban areas through manned and unmanned railway gate crossings. looking to the criticality of railways & to avoid accidents of train with road traffic, automatic and fail safe operation of railway crossing gates is inevitable. also, to avoid accidents between trains on the same track, automatic detection of train in forward direction is necessary. in this project, we have tried to present a novel idea termed as automated railway control system which shall overcome all the drawbacks of presently manually controlled railway control systems and shall have features like automatic operation of railway crossing gates on arrival/departure of the train, automatic reduction of train speed when train approaches railway station platform, automatic stoppage of train at the railway platform , automatic detection of other train on the same track in forward direction etc. the system is designed completely fail safe due to incorporation of features like provision of stand by emergency railway crossing gates which shall operate with alarm/annunciation in case of failure of main crossing gates, automatic transfer of operation of system on standby battery set when main power supply fails, operation of system through standby reed switches in case of failure of sensor detection circuits etc.
