Analysis Of Patterns Of Healing Sounds Using Cymatics: An Empirical Study Of Invisible World Of Sounds
Project Description :

Historical and contemporary views such as those held within buddhist and hindu religions supports the idea that sound, colour and form in motion have the ability to alter the physiological and psychological aspect of human function. within these, religions, distinctive singing and meditation technique can be used to aid concentration, calm and balance the mind, and soothe the body. a meditative technique adopted by hindu and buddhist practitioners is to draw a mind to a centred point of focus, blocking out external distraction that inhibit concentration. the sound base meditation om, for example, is a most powerful mantra, capable of healing and elevating consciousness. vocal sounding and chanting as well as gazing at or visualising images are techniques that as been utilized in an ancient religious practice to aid people to develop their natural capabilities to shift energy within body and mind. contemporary neuroscientist is interested in the state of mind that buddhist monk claims to enter into while sounding. equipped with technology for analysing brainwave activity, experiment have revealed that electromagnetic stimuli such as sound, light and colour can have the physical affect on the practitioner’s brain. researchers have developed new therapeutic tools and techniques to benefit the health and well being of individuals from these findings. this thesis traces the analysis of therapeutic sound form. inspired by the visual form and motion of sounds. this thesis contemplates: if we could see sound, what it would look like and could those images function as healing art form? different ancient temples when we visited apart from a silence a continuous sound is available in the temple in the form of images. we are collecting those images in our work. for analysis purpose we are collecting cymatic images by sweeping over a musical notes available. the parameters that we are using for analysis is number of horizontal lines, number of vertical lines and number of arcs available in cymatic images. this thesis enlist the complete database collection and experimentation technique used for data base collection. we are using matlab to compute desired parameters.
