The innovation involves a grain-feeding system that can control the grain quantity according to the rotational speed of the grinding stones in gharat, or a traditional watermill in uttarkashi. these watermills are prevalent throughout the himalayan region, which includes the states of uttarakhand, himachal pradesh, arunachal pradesh, jammu kashmir, and ladakh. since gharats run on the power of the flowing water that falls on a turbine beneath the gharat and converts the kinetic energy of water into mechanical energy of the grinding stone and since the water flow rate is never constant, there are varying speeds of rotation of the grinding stone. a filter mesh is provided in the grain dispenser to filter out the impurities in the grains or pulses. there is spring-loaded mechanism and a vibrator provided that ensures smoothening of the grain flow for grinding purposes.
